CRICKEY STEVE IRWIN BECOMES A LEGEND

22 February 1962 4 September 2006

What can I say that so many others have not?  This guy was and still is a Legend.  What he did was what he loved, he was so passionate about every aspect of his life, and I feel honoured that he allowed us to share his life right to the end with him.
What started as him on telly, being the crazy aussie that annoyed snakes and crocs, turned out to be so much more than that, when you watched closer, you saw he was teaching us, his friends about some of his other friends, was he scared of his friends, who knows, but did he respect them, I am sure he did, otherwise he would not have been so good at what he did.  Yes the animal may have been a little annoyed at him, hence the bites he took, but did he ever blame the animal? hell no, it was always his fault, as the animal lived in a different world to him, and he better than anyone knew that.  He wanted to show us that these animals that we all fear (with good reason) were not only fearsome hunters, but amazing and remarkable creatures that can survive in the harshest of situations and environments.  He showed us the world he loved close up and personal, he was excited about everything he did, you could see the love in his eyes.

His love was not just these animals, but also his family, Terri, the lady that shared his heart with the magnificent animals, and his two children, Bindi and Bob.  I hope they know how loved there dad was by the world, and how many lives he touch with his love and his overpowering enthusiasm.  When he was with his family he had the same look in his eyes that he had with the animals he loved, they had his heart, and they all shared it with the living world that he loved, and I am sure they love it as well.

I have heard many famous people on the news have died, yes I always thought it sad that another one of life's treasures has gone, but the death of Steve felt like losing a good friend, one who has shared many meals with my family, albeit from the telly.  I feel no shame in saying his death has hit me hard, and really upset me like so many others, but I have never felt this way for someone who I have never met, and sadly now will never get a chance to meet.

Steve in life you was an icon, a true hero that stood up for those who could not, you did everything you could to protect the world you love, you gave everything including you life for what you believed.  You will always be an icon, but as far as I am concerned, you are now a Legend.  You are someone that stood up and made a difference, and in the best way possible.  So may say you were mad and tempted danger, and maybe you did, but if the rest of the world had as much love and as much heart as you, then this world would be a far better place.

Your say CROCS RULE!

I say they are nothing compared to you!

Rest in Peace my friend, you will be missed by all species on this planet, but never forgotten.
